our story

Our story begins on the Devon coast, where the sea isn’t just something we visit, it’s part of who we are.

We’re a family of six who spend as much time in the water, or on the beach as we can.

Swimming, surfing and paddleboarding year round. That connection to the ocean shapes everything we do.

Ocean Activist didn’t start as a business idea. It started with a moment.

At 14, our son Thomas set himself a challenge to swim in the sea every month for a year to raise money for marine conservation. He did it in fancy dress, turning each swim into something people couldn’t ignore.

Watching him step into freezing water dressed as superheroes and sea creatures showed us something powerful. When something feels real, brave and a little bit different, people pay attention.

That’s where Ocean Activist began.

We use clothing as a platform, not a purpose. Every piece is made from organic or recycled materials, printed in the UK and designed to last. When it reaches the end of its life, it can be returned for free and remade into new clothing.

It’s a simple idea, but it reflects what we believe. If you’re going to carry a message, the product behind it has to live up to it.

But this isn’t just about what we wear. It’s about what we stand for.

Through blogs, investigations and creative campaigns, we shine a light on what’s happening to our seas and rivers and make it easier for people to speak up. Because we believe most people care, they just need a way in.

Ocean Activist is about family, community and action. It’s rooted in Devon, but the challenges we’re facing are bigger than any one place. If enough of us feel connected, local action can become something much more powerful.

This isn’t something you buy into. It’s something you become part of.
